Although his own beginnings were rather inauspicious, Spencer Baer actually came from a rather long line of notable people in the United Kingdom. The latest of which had been his father Sir Edward Tillson-Everett-Baer, who had been something of a celebrity in the sixties and seventies for his explorations and globetrotting adventures. He was also well-known for his philandering with society women and members of the nobility in particular. Queen Elizabeth II once called him "cheeky" and he had a not-so-sterling reputation that was mostly dismissed as high spirits due to his overabundance of charm. It was no real surprise to anyone that it took him nearly 45 years to finally settle down and it was of no further surprise that he did so with a woman half his age and twice his money. Spencer's mother was Evangeline Hargrove and she was the perfect match to Edward, as she was gregarious and witty. The two eloped to New Guinea and were married by a village holy man that Edward had befriended on his adventures there and when they came home to London, they made it official there as well.

Originally neither Edward nor Evangeline had wanted to start a family, but as the first two years of their marriage went along they slowly came around to the idea. With the same enthusiasm in which they did everything, they began trying immediately and were delighted when their first child came into the world. Her name was Sophie and as far as they were concerned she was absolutely perfect. That decidedly wore off in short order, as the child was a little hellion - spoiled, stubborn, and entirely too intelligent for her own good. Perhaps that was the reason that their second and last child - Spencer - had come along because he was the complete opposite in almost every way. While Sophie would scream and cry over spilt milk, Spencer tended to jump into action and apologise the entire time while he mopped it up himself. Sophie demanded, Spencer requested politely. Despite their differences in temperament, however, the two did get along and they were fiercely and diplomatically protective of each other, in their respective fashions.

Though Spencer was all around a good kid, he was absolutely terrible at school and even with his parent's support and financial endeavours, he never could quite get the hang of it. Average in just about every way possible, Spencer was also mediocre at sport and art. The only area in which he excelled was languages and performing arts. From the time he understood that one could get a job as an actor, it was all he talked about doing and he spent all of his free time refining his skills. It was fortuitous for him that his parents could afford to indulge their son's whims, though they were constantly hopeful that it was something he'd grow out of and that he'd get more serious about serious subjects. That definitely wasn't happening.

His parents wanted to enrol him at a boarding secondary school (his father had been at Harrow), but Spencer refused to go as it would take him away from his main focus which was becoming an actor. Instead he entered a public day school and took lessons in acting, piano, and voice in the evenings. When he was 12 there was an open call for boys his age and his mother drove him to the auditions, where he later landed his first role in Love Actually. The filming process was addictive for him and after his part finished, he made lists of roles that he might try out for over the coming months. His father was slowly losing patience for Spencer's hobby, but he begrudgingly let him continue with the promise that he'd study his A Levels and go on to university. Spencer already knew that wasn't his future, but he agreed anyway and continued on with auditions and lessons. For awhile he did community theatre and more than one panto, all in the effort to get more experience and learn even more than his tutor could teach him. It led to another role in a TV movie called Tom Brown's Schooldays, where this time he held the lead and it took even more time to film. All it did was urge him onward.

In 2005 the most amazing thing in Spencer Baer's life thus far happened. On yet another open call, he auditioned for a role in Disney's then upcoming film series based on the Narnia novels by C.S. Lewis. He'd read them when he was younger and liked them very much, so he was excited to at least give it a shot and see what happened. It turned out that they thought he was perfect for the part of Edmund and it began filming several months later, the children filming their parts in the summer. By the time it released and they were done doing the press tour for it, Spencer knew one thing - he was not going back to school. There was an enormous fight with his parents about that, but finally they came to realise that they couldn't stop him from doing what he wanted. Once he turned 16, he was free to do whatever he liked in terms of his career and though he'd promised to go on to college, he never did. Instead, he rented a room in the house of a friend of his mother's in the heart of London and spent all of his time working on his acting. Thankfully he was already under contract for two more Narnia films and he filled the time in between them by doing two more smaller films. It seemed that his career was well and truly on its way.

After the last press tour for Voyage of the Dawn Treader finished, Spencer decided that he'd had enough of London and for a few years he lived in New York before moving on to Los Angeles. He was immensely grateful that his career kept gaining steam, since a lot of his friends who were in the business had started off strong, but found America a hard place to break in. A lot of his roles required him to go back to London, but Spencer never minded the trip. He always came back to Los Angeles though because he found that the people and the weather suited him far more than home ever had. His sister came and lived with him for the better part of a year, until she got pregnant and broke up with her boyfriend and then moved back to London to live with their parents. It was just as well though because Spencer was almost too busy to spend time with anyone but his cast mates and other people who lived on the planes he took everywhere for promotion.
